Cedar Rapids re-opens the 'Swap Shop'

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Just in time for Earth Week, Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Agency re-opened a program to reuse certain chemicals.

The Pollution Prevention Center inspects donated materials like paint, solvents, oils and cleaners. Items that are considered safe are placed in the Swap Shop and can be claimed by Linn County residents to be reused.

The Swap Shop recently underwent a renovation using reclaimed pallets, recycled license plates and pallets along with the artistic skills of kids at the African American Museum's Carver Camp.

The Swap Shop is located at the Solida Waste Agency on County Home Road and open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
