Address Canvassing begins in Eastern Iowa

EASTERN IOWA (KWWL)-- If you see someone standing outside your home this week and it's not the mail carrier, don't be alarmed.

Monday, marks the first day of address canvassing for the U.S. Census Bureau.

600 people will be address canvassing, covering 61 counties across Eastern Iowa. Workers will be tracking population statistics for the 2010 census.

Workers will be identified with a badge and will be carrying a hand-held computer.

If workers ask you for your social security or bank account number, they are not with the U.S. Census Bureau.

Eastern Iowa field operations manager Mike Knoll says the Iowa department is fully staffed after accepting applications earlier this year.
