Panther Baseball swept by Illinois St.

WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Illinois State, 11-3 and 4-2 Saturday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium.

            The Panthers left 15 men on base in the two games, 10 of them in scoring position. Brett Douglas finished with two hits in game one, including a two-run home run. Gabe Schultz also collected a pair of hits in the first game, and James Dinizo had two hits in the second game, including a two-RBI double.

            Derek Ott (2-4) took the loss for UNI (15-21, 3-12 MVC) in game one, giving up seven runs in 4.2 innings. Carlos Pinedo (1-6) was charged with the loss in the second game, giving up four runs in 3.0 innings.

            Corey Maines (6-2) earned the win in game one, giving up three runs on nine hits through 7.2 innings. Ryan Copeland (3-4) threw a complete game on the way to earning the win in the second contest.
