Officer Davis benefit raises $6,000

MARION (KWWL) - Support for police officer Tim Davis just keeps pouring in. There have been wristbands, t-shirts and websites all created in Davis's honor. Earlier this week, a benefit dinner raised more than $12,000. Saturday morning, the Davis family got even more help.

The line kept moving and the griddle kept warm as hundreds of people came to a pancake breakfast at Grace Baptist Church in Marion. Cedar Rapids police chaplain Bill Graham is an associate pastor there. He wanted to find some way to lend a hand. After such a big turnout for a benefit dinner a few days ago, Graham wasn't sure how many people would show up. He was pleasantly surprised.

"I was worried about that at first, but really the community has just showed up and came out and supported him and the police department so it's exciting," said Graham.

More than 750 people showed up for Saturday morning's breakfast.   Organizers say they raised $6,000.
