Kennel Club dog show

WATERLOO (KWWL) --More than 550 dogs were groomed, clipped and trimmed to compete in the Annual Waterloo Kennel Club show.

Dog Shower Ralph Hogancamp says that "Its just a matter of scissoring into shape. It's almost like sculpture."

Each dog is judged against a written standard for what the breed of the dog should look like.

Kennel Club President Robert Salsbury explains, "The standard for a Cocker Spaniel for instance.  A Cocker Spaniel is the smallest of the sporting breeds.  He's 15 by 15 and 15 and a half inches at the shoulder.  Weighs approximately 20 pounds... has long pendulous type ears.  Quite hairy. Just cute little things!"

Almost every breed of dog was at the show.

People brought their dogs from as far as California and Texas to compete at the National Cattle Congress.

The show is a two day event.
