New incentives for wind energy in Iowa

DES MOINES (KWWL) - The Iowa House of Representatives have approved a wind energy package designed to create more jobs and encourage more wind-energy production.

The bills approved Thursday would expand wind energy-production and renewable energy tax credits, create wind innovation zones, and encourage more renewable energy-research in Iowa.

State Representative Bob Kressig of Cedar Falls said, "Our efforts over the last two years have seen great results jobs created in the construction and installation of wind turbines. These bills are the next step in our renewable energy efforts and will make wind energy production a reality for small Iowa producers."

The bills now go to the Iowa Senate.
