Aplington-Parkersburg rejects change to K-5 schools

PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -- The Aplington-Parkersburg School District decides against a plan to bring all elementary students under the same roof.

The issue was brought up after last year's tornado leveled the high school in Parkersburg.  In the recovery process, all high schoolers were transfered to Aplington, and all elementary students learned together in Parkersburg.

The district was considering having K-5 in one community, but Superintendent Jon Thompson says concerns over loss of instruction-time due to travel, raised by parents, were among many reasons not to make the switch.
