UPDATE: Names released in hostage situation

CLINTON (KWWL) - The man who held his wife hostage in Clinton, has taken his life.

Police say 38-year-old Shamus Pridemore released his wife, 33-year-old Erin Pridemore, around 8 p.m. Monday, then shot himself.

Erin had minor injuries.

Police say Shamus held his wife hostage at the Iowa Workforce Development office in Clinton for six hours.

The building was evacuated and the road to the office was blocked. Authorities say the man and his wife were the only two people in the building.
