Two Cyclone Football Players Call It Quits

Posted:

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads says the Cyclone careers of lineman Mike Knapp and wide receiver Alex Sandvig are over because of lingering knee injuries.

Knapp, a native of West Des Moines, started four games last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Knapp had one season of eligibility remaining.

Sandvig, also from West Des Moines, was a freshman last season. He's the younger brother of Zac Sandvig, a junior defensive back for the Cyclones

Iowa State will wrap up spring practice Saturday with its spring game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Jack Trice Stadium.
