Pony Express rides across Eastern Iowa

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- "The mail must go through" is the slogan of the Pony Express.

Friday, the Pony Express Riders of Iowa rode through Waterloo on their annual ride from Decorah to Des Moines.

The riders paraded down Lafayette road with a police escort - also appropriately riding horses.

It's one of 12 rides across Iowa, raising money for Camp Sunnyside - a camp for kids and adults with disabilities.

Larry Scura has been along for this ride for about 30 years.

"I just do this every year to help the people of Iowa with disabilities and aren't able to do it themselves," said Scura.

After arriving in downtown Waterloo, Mayor Tim Hurley greeted the riders.  They're staying in Hudson Friday night, and continuing to Des Moines Saturday.
