IOWA CITY- James Ferentz, son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, was one of three Hawkeyes cited for public intoxication early Monday morning. Ferentz and walk-ons Tyler Christensen and Zach Derby were arrested by University of Iowa police in front of the Old Capital Mall in downtown Iowa City and booked at Johnson County Jail.
Ferentz was cited for underage consumption last October and suspended for the remainder of the season at that point.
Christensen was also charged with 5th degree criminal mischief for breaking a gate to the Old Capital parking ramp.
Derby is the son of former Hawkeye middle lineback John Derby. His younger brother, A.J., is highly touted quarterback at Iowa City High and has a scholarship offer from Iowa.
