VNA awarded $5000 by Dubuque District Dental Society

NEWS RELEASE:

Dubuque, Iowa - The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of The Finley Hospital received a pledge for $5000 from the Dubuque District Dental Society to be used for dentistry for eligible children in the districts' eight county service area. Dr Kevin E Kane, President of the Dubuque District Dental Society states, "We are proud to support our community both though financial support as well as volunteering our services for youth dental clinics."

Through the VNA I-Smile Program, complex systems, relationships and collaborative agreements have been developed and nurtured to allow progress toward the common goal of assuring all children access to a dental home through which preventive and treatment services are provided. "We are challenged to meet the needs of an ever-growing number of area residents who cannot regularly access oral health care," stated Jacquie Roseliep, VNA I-Smile coordinator.  "Our challenge is to determine practical solutions and implement care first among those populations at highest risk for oral disease and with the least ability to access care."

On Friday, April 3, 2009, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, Dr James Snyder is expecting over 130 Head Start children at the VNA where dental examinations will be offered free.

If you need additional information about family and child services provided by the VNA or professionals supporting the VNA, call Jacquie Roseliep, at-589-1920.
