WATERLOO (KWWL) - An early spring storm system could bring some heavy snow to parts of the region over the weekend.
The National Weather Service has already issued a Winter Storm Watch for about the Northwestern half of Iowa. The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect late Saturday and remains through late Sunday. We are tracking the storm...and we expect the wind to become quite strong on Saturday as the storm moves in. Rain will be developing first, but the precipitation will be mixing with and changing to snow as the storm crosses the state.
Parts of iowa are bracing for heavy snow and blowing snow. Very strong north winds are likely on the backside of the system which could cause near blizzard conditions. Wind gusts could exceed 50 miles per hour.
