Officer resigns after delaying NFL player

DALLAS, TX (AP) -- A Dallas police officer resigns after delaying an NFL running back from being at the bedside of a dying relative.

Officer Robert Powell resigned yesterday.

Last month, Powell detained Houston Texas running back Ryan Moats in a hospital parking lot after he saw him run a red light.

Powell lectured and wrote Moats a ticket while the football player's mother-in-law passed away.
Powell later apologized to Moats' and his family for his behavior during the ordeal.
