Health professionals help one of their own

Iowa City (KWWL) - On April 1st, hospitals across the country are honoring the hundreds of thousands of organ, eye and tissue donors and recipients by flying a Donate Life Flag.

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is one of many transplant centers across the country that will fly the flag during April, which is National Donate Life month.

Also, on Wednesday, workers at UIHC are coming together for a marrow donor drive. A dental faculty member, Jay Pronk, has been diagnosed with leukemia. Colleagues are donating marrow and helped with the drive. The event will be held until 3 p.m. in two campus locations: the Medical Education and Research Facility atrium and the College of Nursing Building ground floor atrium.
