KWWL staff wins honors from Northwest Broadcast News Association

BLOOMINGTON, MN (KWWL) -- The Northwest Broadcast News Association honors KWWL news staffers for their excellence at an awards ceremony in the Twin Cities.

The NBNA consists of radio and television journalists from the six-state Upper Midwest region including Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

KWWL competed with several medium-sized markets throughout the six-state region and received the following awards Saturday night:

Sunny Layne, Anchor, Reporter, and photojournalist Matt Haupert won First Place for their "Someone You Should Know" feature story "Rick Sinnwell: walking through fire."

Sunny Layne, Anchor, Reporter, and photojournalist Jay Knoll won an Award of Merit for their "Someone You Should Know" feature story "Age is No Limit."

Lauren Squires, Reporter, won an Award of Merit for her sports feature "Guardian Angel."
