My Waterloo Days announces concert headliner "Great White"

WATERLOO (KWWL) - The executive committee of My Waterloo Days announced the national headlining music act and band series Tuesday. Great White, former Grammy nominee, will headline at this year's summer festival, "Party on the Plaza," on Saturday night. Great White gained popularity in the 1980's and 90's, widely known for their hit song, "Once Bitten, Twice Shy." They will be headlining a free concert on Saturday, May 30th at 9:30 p.m. at the Riverloop Exposition Plaza in downtown Waterloo.

In addition to Great White, the My Waterloo Days committee has scheduled a variety of local and regional music acts for the 2009 concert series. The My Waterloo Days concert series will kick off on Thursday, May 29th in Waterloo's Lincoln Park with The Beaker Brothers beginning at 5:00 p.m., followed by The Salsa Band. On Friday evening, the concert series will move to the Riverloop Exposition Plaza with Checker and the Bluetones playing at 5:30 p.m., followed by Standing Hampton.

Leading up to the Great White performance on Saturday evening, music lovers can begin enjoying music by Urban Legend at the Riverloop Exposition Plaza at 1:00 p.m., followed by Lotus and Never The Less before concluding the evening by rocking out with Great White at 9:30 p.m. The concert series will resume on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with the bands Beat Strings, Teddy Boys and Poison Control Center playing at the Riverloop Exposition Plaza.
"We are ecstatic about the bringing back the free concert series for this year's festival," said Jay Stoddard, director of My Waterloo Days. "No matter what kind of music you like, My Waterloo Days will have something for everyone, providing families the opportunity to celebrate summer together right here at our very own Lincoln Park and the brand new Riverloop Exposition Plaza."
