Feeling the pain of a losing game

Waterloo (KWWL) - The NCAA Tournament is in full effect, which means the stakes are high for fans, but can watching your team lose literally break your heart?

European studies suggested a link between sports losses and increased death, but until now, no study had been done in the U.S. Researchers wanted to see if there were changes in Los Angeles' death rate in 1980 when the LA Rams lost the Super Bbowl, and again in 1984 when the LA Raiders won the Super Bowl.

They found deaths rose significantly after the Rams' loss, but declined after the Raiders' win.

So how can fans survive? If you have a history of heart problems, take BETA blockers or anti-anxiety medications before the game, and learn to use deep breathing.
