New Iowa City fire engines

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The Iowa City Fire Department recently received two new Pierce fire engines. Fire officials say both engines are built with the Pierce Ultimate Configuration, (PUC), which is a design that incorporates easier pumping operations with a lighter weight pump. There are many safety features, including lower overall hose beds, side roll protection, frontal air bags, and seat belt sensing systems. Each engine comes equipped with a 1500 gallon-per-minute pump and a 750 gallon water tank. In addition, they carry 30 gallons of structural fire-fighting foam. The new engines have been placed in-service at Station 2, 301 Emerald Street, and Station 3, 2001 Lower Muscatine Road.
