Americans intake way too much salt

And, please *don't pass the salt.

A new study from the Centers for Disease Control finds nearly 70-percent of adults should have no more than 15-hundred milligrams of salt a day -- that's less than a teaspoon.

However -- data shows that the average sodium intake for Americans is more than twice that much -- 34-hundred milligrams a day.

Researchers say most of our dietary sodium comes from packaged, processed foods and restaurant meals, where it can be quite difficult to determine how much sodium is in your meal.
