Dubuque Schools choose superintendent finalists

DUBUQUE (KWWL) - The Dubuque Community School District has their superintendent search narrowed to two.

The Dubuque Community School District Board of Education announced Patrick Sweeney, an elementary school principal in Phoenix, and Larie Godinez, assistant superintendent for administration and personnel in Plainfield, Ill. are the final two candidates.

There will be two public meetings to provide a chance to meet with the candidates.

The first meeting will be to meet Patrick Sweeney from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at The Forum, 2300 Chaney Road.

The second meeting will be to meet Larie Godinez at the same time and place Monday, March 30.

On October 1, 2008, Superintendent of Schools John Burgart informed the Dubuque Board of Education of his plan to retire at end of the current school year.
