Hawks Begin Spring Football Practices

Posted:

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says defensive end Adrian Clayborn is in good standing -- with an asterisk.

Clayborn was charged last week with punching a cab driver who honked at him in Iowa City on Jan. 18.

Ferentz says he's heard both sides of the story and that it would be irresponsible for him to make a judgment right now. Ferentz also says he's presuming Clayborn is not guilty, adding that he's been an exemplary student and citizen while at Iowa.

Iowa will return as many as 16 starters next season, but four of them, linebacker A.J. Edds, tight end Tony Moeaki and safeties Brett Greenwood and Tyler Sash will be held out of contact drills while nursing injuries.
