Girl Scouts get day at the movies

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) The Hawkeye Area Council of Girl Scouts will treat area Scouters to a day at the movie.

More than 100 local Scouts will gather at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, March 28 at the Collins Road Theatre in Cedar Rapids. These Scouts will be treated to a movie, pop and popcorn in celebration of their 2008 popcorn sale success. Each Scout attending the event sold at least $1,000 in popcorn.

Following the movie, the 28 top-selling Scouts for Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America will be treated to a limo ride and activity time at Planet X in celebration of  their popcorn sale success. Each Scout in the group of 28 sold at least $3,000 in popcorn.

"The Scouts being honored Saturday are goal-focused entrepreneurs," said Ed Brandon, Scout Executive/CEO for Hawkeye Area Council. "Many of these fine young men already have plans in place to make their 2009 popcorn sale even better. Their hard work provides a critical source of support for Scouting in Eastern Iowa."
