Organizing Bike to Work Day

KWWL (WATERLOO) - The Cedar Trails Partnership is looking for volunteers to help with Bike to Work Day on May 15, 2009.

Cedar Trails Partnership Release:

You'll be joining efforts with other bike commuters new and old in making a statement about the importance of supporting bicycling in the Cedar Falls and Waterloo metro area.

There are several ways to help during Bike to Work Day.  First, you can help bringing your ideas to the planning committee, and be part of the preparation of this great day.  Another way to volunteer is if you have your own route, and would like to be a bike mentor, you can accompany novice cyclists during their commute during Bike to Work Day.  In addition, you could lead a bike convoy.  You can be the leader of a bike convoy by helping gather a group of friends or coworkers in a set a location, and then ride together to your established site. Let us know if you have any questions, we will happy to provide you with more information on how to help.

We are lucky enough to have a valuable trail system, and biking to work is a great way to save money, improve your health, and help the environment.

On May 15th two locations will be serving food and refreshments to commuters from 7:00am to 8:30am. One site will be located in Cedar Falls at Pfeiffer Park, and the other location will be in Downtown Waterloo at West Mullan and River St.

Door prizes will be awarded to those who stop by either location.  Also, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a surprise door prize!!

This event will encourage people to try bike commuting, increase the use of our trail system and promote a healthy alternative form of transportation by cycling.  We are encouraging you to join us in parking the car for a day and riding your bike to work.  Please help us make Bike to Work Day fun and plan to commute with friends, coworkers and family!
