Bomb threat closes UI hospitals emergency center

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Emergency Treatment Center is is back open Wednesday morning after police say there was a bomb threat.

Police blocked off the center for almost two hours Tuesday night after police say a member of a family visiting the emergency center called 911 and said there was a bomb in the family truck.

University police say they searched the area with an explosive and tracking K-9 and did not find any explosives.  People were allowed back into the center around 7:30 p.m.

Officials have not released the name of the person who made the threat, but say they have been released with their family.

The incident remains under investigation.
