UI students commit random acts of kindness

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- A group of University of Iowa students are hoping to make a difference on campus by declaring this week "Random Acts of Kindness week."

Every time these students witness someone doing something as simple as holding a door open for somebody else, they give him or her a pink "Act of Kindness card".

It is their hope that these cards will continue to be distributed throughout campus every time an act of kindness is performed.

"I think there's always a need for random acts of kindness," said UI Junior Lauren Drew.  "The way this came about was that my class as a group was trying to come up with ideas that would help the community as a whole."

The 25 students started Random Acts of Kindness week as part of a career leadership acadamy class offered at the University of Iowa.
