Tornado hits Western Iowa

MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa (AP) -- A tornado in Missouri Valley has struck a house, causing major damage, but no one was home at the time.

The Harrison County Emergency Management Agency says the house sustained damage, but no one was injured in the storm, which blew in from Nebraska.

Kim Crispin, public information officer for the agency, says all the house's occupants have been accounted for. Crispin says some unoccupied farm buildings near Missouri Valley were also damaged.

The Harrison County sheriff's office says it has received reports of damage throughout the county.

Crispin says a Union Pacific train with 54 empty grain cars derailed west of Missouri Valley, but did not know if anyone was injured.
