Volunteers leave Iowa to help prepare for floods

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) - People in northeast Iowa are getting ready to fight another round of flooding.
Volunteers will soon be filling sandbags, not in their hometowns, but farther north, in Fargo, North Dakota.

Workers there are trying to combat a flood threat from the Red River, that could affect local neighborhoods.

FEMA is sending help, and volunteers are being sent in from around the country.

Two people from the Hawkeye Chapter of the Red Cross are leaving Waterloo today.

Danielle Wagner has the story tonight on the news Live at Five.
