Traffic stop and manhunt in Cedar County

CEDAR COUNTY (KWWL) -- A traffic stop in Cedar County resulted in a manhunt and early morning arrest of an Iowa City man.

An Iowa State Patrol report says a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 80 near Tipton.  The report shows the trooper discovered a passenger in the vehicle had a protection order against the driver: 43-year old James Dampier.

While being handcuffed, officers say Dampier ran away.  About six hours later, officers finally found and arrested Dampier, several miles away.

There's no word on any specific charges, or if Dampier is still in custody.
