Black Hawk turns dark day into bright night

Posted:

Waterloo- Waterloo Black Hawks captain Craig Smith turned one of the darkest days of his hockey career into his finest night in the United State Hockey League.  He scored his first career hat-trick to lift the Black Hawks to their 7th straight win 7-4 over the Chicago Steel.

Karen Wente passed away unexpectedly on Friday.  She was Smith's host parent the last three years and the team's Housing Coordinator as well as former Booster Club president.  Before the game, the team honored her life and dedication to the team.
