Historic resort files for bankruptcy

Charleston, WV (NBC) -- Charleston, West Virginia's historic Greenbrier Resort is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The resort has unveiled a plan to be sold to hotel giant Marriott International for a cost of $130-million dollars later this year.

The roots of the fabled four-star resort go back to the 18th century with famous guests including President Eisenhower and Monaco's Prince Rainier and Princess Grace.

It is also the site of a once-secret cold war bunker built to house congress in case of a nuclear attack.
