Protest marks Iraq War Anniversary

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- A protest marks the sixth anniversary of the War in Iraq in Iowa City.

Dozens gathered in front of the Old Capitol in Iowa City to voice objections to America's ongoing presence in Iraq. The protesters also held a candle light vigil to remember soldiers killed in the war.

"We're here to mourn the people, Americans, Iraqis, and from other countries who have suffered, who have died, who are wounded, who have suffered as a result of this war," said Edward Flaherty.

Barack Obama recently announced plans to begin a slow withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq next year.
