Hawkeyes and Cyclones opponents set in women's basketball tourney

UNDATED (KWWL) - The Iowa Hawkeyes will face Georgia Tech in the women's NCCA basketball tournament.

The Hawkeyes earned a No. 8 seed. Georgia Tech is a 9.

Iowa plays Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

If the Hawkeyes can beat Georgia Tech, they'll likely face top-seeded Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 24.

Georgia Tech (21-9) was upset in the ACC tournament by Clemson, 81-69. But the Yellow Jackets beat Michigan State and North Carolina this season and played No. 1 Connecticut close in November, losing 82-71.

This is the first time in 11 years that Iowa (21-10) will host NCAA tournament games.

Iowa lost to Georgia 67-61 in the first round of the NCAA tournament last season.

Meanwhile, the Iowa State Cyclones will play East Tennessee State.

The Cyclones received a No. 4 seed for the NCAA tournament and plays Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. in Bowling Green, Kentucky. That game will also be on ESPN2.

East Tennessee State is a 13 seed.

The Cyclones (24-8), who are ranked 17th in this week's Associated Press poll, lost to Baylor 63-57 in the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament.

Should Iowa State advance to the second round, it could face fifth-seeded Tennessee.

East Tennessee State finished 20-10, after starting 1-5, and won the Atlantic Sun Conference title for the second straight season.
