Iowa Chops to benefit Blank Children's Hospital

(Des Moines-KWWL) On Saturday, March 21st  at 7:05 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena, the Iowa Chops will take on the Quad City Flames in a battle to champion children. Proceeds from the night's contest will benefit Iowa's only dedicated children's hospital, Blank Children's Hospital , supporting its Child Life and Advocacy and Outreach programs.

To celebrate this special night, the Chops will have face painting and moonwalks on the concourse, as well as pucks flying on and off the ice. Fans are invited to purchase special t-shirts for the night's event, with sale proceeds donated to Blank Children's. In addition, Saturday is a Wendy's Family Night, meaning fans can receive a ticket to the game, an Iowa Chops cowbell, a Chops rally towel and a Wendy's combo meal for $9.95.

The Chops have paired up with Blank Children's several times this season to help kids. In addition to players making hospital visits, Iowa Chops goalie David LeNeveu donates $1 to Blank Children's for each save he makes during a game through his Saves for Kids campaign. His contribution total will be matched by MetaBank of Iowa at the end of the season. Fans are also welcome to make campaign donations in jars placed throughout the arena at Saturday's game. To date, LeNeveu has raised $899.

"I feel strongly about making a positive impact on children's lives," says LeNeveu, "I fully believe there are things bigger than hockey that we all need to be part of."

Tickets for Blank Children's Hospital Night are still available for purchase by calling the Iowa Chops at 515.564.8700 or visiting
