Waterloo & Cedar Rapids golf courses to open Tuesday

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) --  Golfers will be able to hit the links this week in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.

City of Waterloo golf courses will open the 2009 season on Tuesday March 17th.  This includes Irv Warren Memorial, Gates Park and South Hills golf courses.  These course are open to all golfers, those who walk and those who use carts.

In Cedar Rapids, Twin Pines and Gardner Golf Courses will open to walkers only Tuesday, March 17, after any frost delay, for general play. Golf course clubhouses will open at 9:00 a.m. each day this month and play may be restricted in the mornings due to potential frost delays during the first few weeks of spring. 

Call ahead to Twin Pines and Gardner Golf Courses for course and practice conditions and to see if power cars are being allowed.

    The Iowa Hawkeye baseball team gave up a season high 13 runs in a 13-5 loss to Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights took two out of the three games in the series against the Hawks. Rutgers pounded out 16 hits in the games and scored the first 10 runs in just four innings.
