UNI profs want more access to school funds information

Posted:

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Several University of Northern Iowa professors are asking for more access. They want to know how the school funds auxilary operations before making any cuts in their academic budgets.

UNI has already absorbed a 2.5% budget cut, and they're prepairing for a double-digit cut next year.

Some professors believe the university can recoup some of those losses by reclaiming general education fund money that's currently going into the school's auxilary funds -- including athletics.

UNI President Ben Allen has said strategic cuts in almost every area will be necessary, but no definate plans have been made for how the university will make this year's cuts.
