DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Northern Iowa will face Big Ten champions Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday in Portland, Ore.
The Panthers, who earned the Missouri Valley Conference's automatic bid by winning the league tournament, are seeded 12th in the West region.
Purdue (25-9) beat Ohio State 65-61 on Sunday to capture its first Big Ten title.
The Panthers (23-10) will be making their fourth NCAA tournament appearance since 2004.
The winner of the Northern Iowa/Purdue game will face either Washington or Mississippi State in the second round.
