Shuttle Discovery blasts off to ISS

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- The long wait ends to launch Discovery to the international space station.

The Shuttle launched as scheduled Sunday night at 7:43 p.m. Eastern Time.

The seven astronauts are now on their way to the International Space Station, where they will install the final set of solar wings.  Their mission has been shortened to 13 days and three spacewalks by the more than one-month delay.

The mission was delayed by a hydrogen leak.  The ground crew apparently fixed the problem by replacing some seals and a quick-disconnect valve on the shuttle's big orange fuel tank.
