Mulder finishes 3rd at NCAA's

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Tyler Mulder took third place in the 800 meter run at the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Texas A&M Saturday evening.

After qualifying fifth last night, Mulder clocked in at 1:48.57, just shy of his season-best time. Texas' Jacob Hernandez took the crown in the event while Oregon's Andrew Wheating slipped just ahead of Mulder to finish in second.

Mulder, who won the event at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships, earns his seventh All-America honor with the third place finish. Mulder is now tied with fellow Panther Terrance Reid as the most decorated athlete in UNI track and field history, with each racking up seven All-America citations. Both athletes return to the track scene this spring for the outdoor season.

The Panthers will take a week off before beginning the outdoor track and field season. The Panthers head to Columbia, Mo. March 27-28 to take part in the Missouri Relays.
