Golf courses open in Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) --The greens opened even though there's still some snow on the ground.

"We call them snow traps around here," Golfer Jack Shafer said, but was not bothered by the weather. "It's a beautiful day.  It's not too windy.  It's not raining... It's open!"

"Just a few areas... its not going to affect any other shots.  It's kinda where the snow plows have been in the winter moving the snow off the parking lots and stuff like that so it shouldn't be too much of a hastle for them on the golf course," Assistant Golf Pro Adam Luehmann said.

Pheasant Ridge and Walter's Ridge golf courses in Cedar Falls opened for the season two weeks earlier than last year.

The golf course saw that there was suppose to be a stretch of nice days so the course was opened.

The ground was still frozen in parts so a few tees were broken, but overall golfers were just happy to be out.
