Overnight fire displaces seven in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL)-- A pan of cooking oil started a fire at a home in Cedar Rapids.

Cedar Rapids Police say the fire at 75 Summer Circle Northeast started just after 10 p.m. Friday.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of the manufactured home structure.

The fire started in the kitchen where residents were heating up cooking oil in a pan.

The oil was left unattended for a short period of time.

The home is a total loss. Seven people escaped the fire without injury.  The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
