CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Senator McCain has already campaigned in Iowa several times including during the caucuses and most recently three months ago so today's rally at the Cedar Rapids airport for many was about meeting Governor Palin.
McCain may be the one running for president, but two weeks after her speech at the republican convention, Sarah Palin continues to steal much of the spotlight.
"In the next 47 days, it's gonna be a hardfought contest here," Palin says. "But John McCain and I, we are ready and with your help we are going to win, we're going to D.C. to shake things up."
Her message of reforming Washington rang true for many rally goers.
"Sarah Palin is just awesome," says McCain/Palin supporter Devin Wilcoxen.
Fellow rally goer Eric Rosenthal agrees. "Sarah Palin is making her introduction to the country. And she is very impressive," Rosenthal says.
Palin appeared to win over audience despite a stumble at the start.
"Thank you so much Iowa! It's so great to be here in Grand Rapids!" Palin exclaimed.
The slip-up created a momentary stir, but didn't seem to bother most that witnessed it.
"I can understand when you go from place to place, that's going to happen once in a while," said supporter Sam Spencer.
Today's rally though, wasn't without its protests. Chants of "We want back from Iraq" and "My body, my choice" interrupted the rally on a couple of occasions. It's something the McCain campaign says has been very unusual over the past few weeks.
