SIOUX FALLS - The Waterloo Black Hawks set a new season high for goals scored in a game with a 7-3 win at Sioux Falls Sunday.
It was 3-0 after one period, with Keegan Meuer finding the net on a power play at 4:25. Brett Beebe and Brett Olson scored goals 1:06 apart late in the period.
The Hawks pulled ahead 5-0 with Billy Maday and Beebe scoring in the second period. The Stampede scored twice in the final minute before intermission to draw back within three.
In the third, Paul Weisgarber and Maday scored on either side of a Jack Connolly goal. The win gave Waterloo a perfect 4-0 record against the Stampede this season.
The Black Hawks are now within three points of the Indiana Ice for the top spot in the USHL Eastern Division. Three games remain in the regular season. The Hawks travel to Green Bay Wednesday, then host the Gambler and Cedar Rapids Rough Riders at Young Arena Friday and Saturday.
