Council approves urban chicken ordinance

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Tuesday the Cedar Rapids City Council decided to allow chickens in city limits.

The 2nd and 3rd readings of the ordinance passed.

Iowa City and Palo also considered ordinances this year. It passed in Palo, but was denied in Iowa City.

Some residents of southeast Waverly are a little nervous, as the waters of the Cedar River move toward a crest in the next 24 hours.
The City of Waverly says the river is receding and previousily closed roads are starting to open.
