3 year old snowboarder following Shaun White's footsteps?

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Wednesday night millions of people watched USA snowboarder Shaun White take home a gold medal in the half pipe. White started snowboarding at age 7 and has since trained with the worlds best. But one young boy in Dubuque is learning to navigate the slopes at a much younger age.

You can't miss Wesley Muresan at Sundown Mountain in Dubuque.

"Both my kids are home schooled so we bought a pass here as a part of their physical education class and they just loved it," said Danelle Muresan.

Wesley and his brother, Devon, are here three to four times a week. But Wesley isn't you're average snowboarder. He's just three years old.

"Like everybody on the lifts above, they're all watching him, cheering him on," said Nolan Whoe, Wesley's snowboard instructor.

They're not just cheering him on because he's a little snowboarding, who manages to make it down the hill. They're cheering him on because of how he gets down the hill.

"He does rails in the big terrain park. He does launch rails, box rails, rainbow rails, he goes off jumps. He grabs his board while he's in the air," said Muresan.

He even gets a little frustrated when he doesn't make a jump. But mistakes are okay when you've only been snowboard for two months. That's right! Wesley started learning to snowboard in January.

"We thought we'd spend all year on the beginner hill, we didn't think we'd ever be off of it. But they just love it. They do it just for the pure joy of it. You can tell they love it so much," said Muresan.

Of course, the Muresan's have been watching Shaun White in the Olympics. White started snowboarding at 7 years old. So does is Wesley the next Shaun White?

"If they like to do it, then we'll support them. As long as they're having fun," said Muresan.

And for now, three year old Wesley is having so much fun. He doesn't have time to talk to the camera.

Wesley is the youngest snowboard at Sundown. He and his eight year old brother wear helmets when they snowboard.
