UPDATE: Power outages, damage reported following morning storm

Posted:

ELDORA (KWWL) --  Governor Chet Culver has issued a disaster proclamation for Hardin County after heavy damage after a Sunday morning storm brought heavy winds and hail.

The Hardin County Sheriff says there is considerable hail and wind damage in the city of Eldora.  Sheriff Timothy Smith says large trees have fallen on homes and vehicles after the midday storm.  High winds bent the communications tower at the Sheriff's Office, causing a small hole in the roof of the building.  Power is out to the whole community.

Some injuries were reported at Pine Lake State Park where the state archery meet was being held.  We're told one man broke his collarbone.  Dozens of vehicles at Pine Lake campground are damaged by hail including trucks and RVs with windows blown out.

Some people staying at the campground stayed in vehicles while others sought safety in campground shelter/bathroom.

In Black Hawk County there were reports of pea-sized to quarter-sized hail.

If you have photos or video of the storm or storm damage, upload it to Show and Tell 7.
