Crews rescue man buried during construction project

Posted:

PEOSTA (KWWL) -- Several Dubuque County agencies worked together Monday morning to rescue a construction worker trapped under a pile of dirt.

It happened at 10437 Cypress Road in Peosta at the site of a new house being constructed.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's office says Kraus Plumbing and Heating from Monticello was digging a trench for a GEO Thermo heating system to be installed.  The surrounding land collapsed on 28-year-old Adam Zimmerman of Monticello.

Other construction workers on the scene tell KWWL Zimmerman was very quickly buried up to his neck.

Epworth Ambulance and Fire Department and Dubuque Search and Rescue dug Zimmerman out and took him to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.  His injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.
