A man who started his football coaching career at the high school level in Iowa before going to the University of South Dakota has died. Larkin Funeral Homes in Sioux City, Iowa, says Bernard "Beanie" Cooper died Sunday at age 86. Cooper had a 42-12 record at Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City from 1969-74, winning the Iowa state championship in 1971.
