DES MOINES (KWWL) -- The Des Moines Catholic Worker says seven of its protestors were arrested Wednesday night during a demonstration at Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin's Des Moines office.
The group staged a sit-in at his office from 1:30 pm until 6:00 pm. Seven protestors refused to leave when the office closed for the day at 6:00 pm and were arrested. All seven were cited and released.
The group was protesting Sen. Harkin's voting record on Israeli actions in Gaza. They called on the Senator to "repent" what they see as a pro-Israel voting record and investigate war crimes in the region. Sen. Harkin's staff issued a statement to the group on the Senator's behalf, but that did not appease the protestors.
