CR Jefferson holds off upset bid of Waterloo West 57-55 in substate final

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)-- The Waterloo West boys basketball team fell just short of making its first trip to state in 17 years falling to Cedar Rapids Jefferson 57-55 in a 4A Substate Championship game at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.

Wisconsin Badger recruit Jarrod Uthoff scored a game high 25 points including two free throws with 13 seconds to play to give the J-Hawks the win.

But Waterloo West which trailed by 12 in the second half rallied behind 19 points from Dale Jones and 15 from Trent Washington.
